The Two Principles of Working Electrodes of Electrolyte Analyzer

Carbon dioxide partial pressure of the electrode and the partial pressure of oxygen electrode working principles in electrolyte analyzer are as follows:
Electrolyte analysis instrument medical device of carbon dioxide partial pressure electrode gas sensing electrode is a composite electrode of the pH glass electrode and silver - silver chloride electrode assembly together. The composite electrode contains carbon dioxide partial pressure electrode outside the buffer (including of NaHCO3-NaCl), and its pH electrode for blood carbon dioxide partial pressure change.
Electrolyte analyzer, medical equipment of the partial pressure of oxygen electrode, redox electrode, measurement of oxygen is based on the principle of electrolytic oxygen. Partial pressure of oxygen electrode by a platinum wire cathode and silver - silver chloride anode, known as the Clark electrode. The oxygen partial pressure in the test solution can make use of the electrode outer surface of the partial pressure of oxygen-permeable membrane, relying on oxygen partial pressure gradient through the membrane into the electrode. The applied voltage of 0.4V ~ 0.8V range of oxygen partial pressure in the platinum cathode surface was restored electrolyte analyzer electrode current increased with the increase of applied voltage.
When the oxygen concentration diffusion gradient is relatively stable, it creates a stable electrolysis current, called the limiting diffusion current. Limiting diffusion current size is determined by how many of the penetration to the cathode surface oxygen, which in turn depends on the oxygen partial pressure in the outer membrane. Therefore, the partial pressure of oxygen in the blood samples can be determined by determination of the current changes.
Electrolyte analyzer, when the applied voltage exceeds 0.8V, even if the oxygen partial pressure = 0 mmHg, water itself would be electrolysis to generate electricity. Therefore, the operating voltage plus the partial pressure of oxygen electrode is typically 0.65V.
These are the two working electrode blood electrolyte analyzer principle, the reference only to learn!
